Jon Rauch — a friend and one of the best known gay rights activists in the country — wrote today for Time about ending the campaign for ENDA.  (“The End of Gay Victimhood“)  It’s not coming from a Republican, but it’s another argument against ENDA that doesn’t stem from the belief that gays are bad…    Plus I’m still waging this ENDA battle against Matt, so I figured I’d post.

In another respect, too, the civil rights model was an imperfect fit for gays. It cast us as victims who need the state’s protection, and it encouraged us to think of ourselves that way. In doing so, it bolstered the stereotype of the weak homosexual.

    so victims of discrimination are responsible for their own suffering because they just aren’t “tough” enough? what a load of bs. just another house fag to quote Dan Savage, imho.
